How did you find yourself at Avinode Group?
Well, I am currently studying to become a Customer Experience Specialist at IHM Business School in Stockholm. As a part of my education, I needed to complete an internship in this field. To find an internship, I went to LinkedIn and searched for people working in the customer experience field. That’s how I found Marie Östlund, the Customer Experience Director here at Avinode Group. I messaged her, asking if there was a possibility that I could do my internship at Avinode Group, and well… here I am!
What have been your main tasks during your internship?
When I joined, the customer experience team had just started using TheyDo, a platform for mapping out and managing customer journeys. So, a large part of the internship revolved around helping set it up and mapping out journeys. I also helped the team improve several processes, such as rebranding KYB emails and working within the CRM system.
Were there any challenges that you faced?
Being new to customer experience, there was definitely a learning curve when it came to using and understanding basic processes and tools used at the company. I was starting from square one. However, I had great guidance from everyone on the team, and they helped me understand programs such as Microsoft Dynamics. Now that my internship is soon over, I can say with confidence that I have climbed up the learning curve and am now able to understand and use tools to drive value for the business and improve the overall customer experience.
What was the most rewarding part of the internship?
It was learning how to work with CX, which is what I am interested in doing in the future. During my time here, I learned how broad CX is and how it has many different angles and perspectives. I also found the respect for CX in Avinode Group to be very rewarding, as I hadn’t seen companies prioritize and see the real value of CX before working here. Lastly, I gained a lot of self-confidence during my time here, even presenting the work we had been doing in TheyDo to the whole company during a Town Hall.
How would you describe the company culture?
I found Avinode Group to be an open, welcoming, and friendly environment. There was a real sense that no one felt afraid to make mistakes – “intern slip-ups” were just seen as part of the learning process. The hybrid work model was also great, and I never had issues connecting with people, whether working remotely or in-office. Even though I could work from home daily, I chose to come into the office most days, largely thanks to the unlimited free coffee and juice always available.
Would you recommend this internship to others? And what advice would you give to them?
Of course! Anyone who gets a chance should jump at the opportunity. My advice? Don’t be afraid to give your opinions as they are valued here, interns are invited for a reason. I also wouldn’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance when needed. An internship is for learning, and no one expects you to know everything when starting out.
